Community Update #26 - Backlog Update
v2 is funded, frontend in progress & learn about the gemcutter framework
A quick glimpse into the current Habitat working environment, what was achieved already and what are we up to in the next weeks - sit back and enjoy, here is our rundown:
Habitat v2 Development is funded 🎉
It's official!
Beginning of this week the Habitat & LeapDAO teams executed on the Funding Proposal which was submitted to the LeapDAO, which means the Habitat Treasury received a healthy top-up of 15.000 DAI.
These funds will be used to fund the ongoing and future development of the Habitat V2 MVP. Workers and Contributors can be paid for realised progress and can continue outlining bounties which are paid out on the Optimism Network 🚀
Let us use this moment to say thank you towards LeapDAO for believing in the vision and supporting Habitat with funds to keep working. Visit their Twitter and give them a follow 🙏🏼
Progress on Landing Page 🖼️
Making sure future visitors and explorers are in the know about the Habitat Project, the landing page is currently getting an updated design and the revisited content is slowly coming together. To make it easier to find all essential information, the landing page will be integrated into the official documentation in the future.
Still open is the animated header image and the general review and check-up on the page. Once ready for release, it will feature day/night mode and a search function to navigate the Docs and Landing Page at once.
Hello Gemcutter 💎
As mentioned in the latest updates, Habitat is building with the EIP-2535 Diamonds Standard. It allows easy upgradebility for Smart Contracts. Diamond Facets are visualised as components, lego pieces that devs can attach together to create modular smart contracts.
The new rockstar team member Marco took this idea one step further and came up with the proof of concept of 💎 Gemcutter. This framework is a set of Hardhat tasks that allow the developer to manage the state of deployed Diamonds with ease.

Habitat is getting closer to allowing organisations to scale and share their tools - like: treasury management, voting, token creation etc. by using the EIP-2535 and the 💎 Gemcutter. This idea received praise from the Diamonds community and the creator Nick Mudge:
The aim here is to find more talented devs to pick up this Diamond Framework and get a better experience when working with Diamonds. Find the full code over here 👀
That's all for this week! Habitat is getting closer to the MVP with each week and all team-members are hyped to show what is possible with the Habitat V2.
Next to this we are advancing the space with contributions to other communities like the Diamonds-Framework - Exciting times!
Thank you for being part of our journey and see you soon 💖
