Community Update #27 - New Landing Page & more Great News
Progress on the Diamond Framework, Resolved Uncertainty & Trip to Amsterdam
Dear Community, it’s been some time since our last update. Habitat is working on the prototype for v2 and the team is excited to report on the progress in this new update. Here is the current state of things:
The New Landing Page is Up 🖼️
Team members have been busy the last weeks, and after showcasing a sneak peek in our last update, the Habitat Team is above & beyond to show the revamped contents and structure which awaits the interested explorer on the new landing page.
Check out the new Landing Page here:
https://0xhabitat.org/
The new page features a couple of monumental changes, to make sure visitors find their way through the Habitat. The Navigation Bar now features links to Docs, Blog & all social channels on a glance and will be updated once new parts are released, e.g. The Habitat App.
The contents of the page explain the Habitat vision, the benefits of building with the Diamond Framework and what it means to deploy on the Optimism Layer-2. Habitat added new information about the token and an updated roadmap to keep track of the progress of the DAO.
A special shout-out to our front-end wizard TJ who has been executing tremendously during these weeks of reworking the page.

Progress on Habitat’s Diamond Framework 💎
The Habitat team is making good progress on the initial setup for the Habitat Diamond, which is due to be deployed on the Optimism Network.
The repository with the key elements contains the “Gemcutter” and testing, initial Habitat repo with erc20 token example, along with a lens example to take a closer look at the facets within a diamond. (Extended blog post on this topic is following soon…)
Currently, the focus is set on integrating the treasury facet and features to the Habitat Prototype Diamond. A much demanded feature is the integration of erc20’s and making them usable with the treasury. (This is also a key feature to mint the new Habitat Token for the community.)
Another important element will be integrating a VotingPowerFacet, which enables DAOs to determine and control the voting power of members holding tokens. Related to the Voting Power is the implementation of proposals to the treasury, so DAO members can decide on how to allocate funds from designated treasuries within the DAO.
Next to all the functional improvements, the Dev-team is working on making the development environment accessible with ease. Sourcify is currently hard to install and Hardhat doesn’t have a persistent mode in the local node. The source code of the MVP will automatically install all the dependencies so new developers aren’t going to spend time setting up the tools we rely on.
Team’s Uncertainty Resolved 🇺🇦
Next to challenges and workload on the online side of things, Habitat was involved with other uncertainties for the team.
The smart-contract developer who joined the team in January was heavily impacted by the ongoing war in Ukraine. As a resident of the city of Odessa he was involved in many cruel situations and his mind was not open for doing any work - It was about survival!
Following the situation in Ukraine, other team members encouraged him to leave the country and supported him as much as possible. Within the last week, the journey led him from Odesa to Moldova, and from Budapest to Berlin, Germany. The team felt huge relief knowing our friend and partner is in a safe space now.
Let’s not forget about the ongoing battles and the difficulties for the local people still being affected heavily by the conflict. Take a look around and see how you can help people in your community and surroundings - Love is the Answer!
Habitat in Amsterdam 🌷
The Habitat Team is sending a small delegation to the upcoming Ethereum Community Events taking place in the Dutch capital. The ETH Global Hackathon is taking place from 22-24 April, but there are various side events taking place the week before.
The Habitat Team members are taking a special focus on Layer-2 scaling solutions and the emerging DAO Space. To embody these preferences, Habitat secured tickets to the following Events:
The DAOist’s Global Governance Gathering // 18 - 19 April 2022
Taken from the webpage:
DAOs hold great potential to redefine value flows and the strategies of success for decades to come. But DAOs are still an arcane topic.
At The DAOist we are aware that the transformation is more than just technical and organizational. DAOs are driving an actual lifestyle change - a lifestyle characterised by purpose, ownership, collaboration, and openness. If we get our way, anyone can flourish by harnessing their inner talent and contributing to the greater good. The DAOist and the GGG act as a connective that supports the cultural revolution needed to enable a world of DAOists.
Next to learning and contributing to the actual event, Habitat is attending to foster meaningful relations with other DAOs, and look out for possible integrations and partnerships within the DAO Community.
Layer Two Amsterdam by L2 Beat // 19 - 20 April 2022
Taken from the webpage:
"Layer Two Amsterdam is a two-day technical conference dedicated to Ethereum L2 Scaling. Meet industry leaders: builders and developers, learn during talks and panels and dig deeper by attending workshops.
In the blockchain space, it can be hard to discover the technology, because it is wrapped in so many layers of marketing. This is why as L2BEAT we are carefully curating the agenda so that it focuses on aspects such as technological breakthroughs and security challenges.“”
This is the more technical event during the days. Habitat is checking for new relations with developers, researchers and rollup projects. The goal would be some DAO collaboration within Ethereum Layer-2.
L2 and DAOs in 2022 🔮
This post is a bit longer than usual but due to the long communicative break, we thought some more insight is needed. Habitat is also very aware of the upcoming sentiment shift on L2 and DAO tooling. The team is heads-down building on new infrastructure that hasn’t been tried before so patience is key. We are confident that Habitat is on to something.
